GREEK [french] TOAST

This recipe was a huge hit on Mother’s Day.  With social distancing being a very real part of our lives right now, we wanted to still make it special for our mom’s, so we gifted ready made batter in cute mason jars along with sliced Tsoureki bread.  This way mom didn’t have to labor in the kitchen too much, and enjoy brunch fresh off the skillet  

You’ll need:
Thick cut bread. We used our Tsoureki bread.
Batter (for 2 slices):

  • 1 egg
  • 1tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Greek honey
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp Greek e.v.olive oil
:: whisk together in a wide bowl
Soak slices in batter. Heat 1-2 tbsp butter in skillet on med-high heat to start, then lower to medium. Cook slices on both sides until golden-brown. Serve with extra Greek honey, extra cinnamon and fresh fruit.
